Welcome to Providence V Sailing

Join us on board Providence V, a 62-foot gaff rigged schooner which runs day and evening sails around the granite-bouldered, magnificent beaches of Magnetic Island. Come along for a gourmet picnic on one of the island’s 23 secluded bays or an evening cruise: slip into the sunset with a complimentary champagne and nibbles. Sail back in the moonlight.

Providence V is the only tall ships in the Townsville region. She is a family-owned topsail classic schooner perfect for adventure sailing in a bygone era and a replica of the Gloucestershire schooner one of the first vessels to sail in the America’s Cup in the 1870s.

Magnetic Island is a 20-minute ferry ride from Townsville in North Queensland. Captain Cook’s compass is said to have gone awry when he reached Magnetic Island, located in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area. More than half of the island is national park and it has 24-kilometres of walking tracks.

All cruises currently leave from Nelly Bay harbour next to the ferry terminal on Magnetic island. Regular ferries operate day and night. Check www.sunferries.com.au or the car barge which also takes passengers and has free day car parking on www.magvac.com.au when you book.
